Abstract Submissions

8th Biennial AsianSIL Conference Abstracts

The Conference has two options for submissions: Panel Presentation Proposal and Individual Presentation Proposal. The requirements for each submission are outlined below. All PhD students are encouraged to submit their proposal for the PhD workshop. 

The Call for Abstracts has now closed. Successful applicants will be informed by April 12, 2021.

Panel Presentation Proposal

When submitting a Panel Presentation Proposal, the following information is required:

1. Name and contact details of the panel contact.

2. A 500-word abstract of the proposed panel presentation.

3. City with the time zone that is suitable for the whole panel.

4. Each panel submission needs to indicate at least one relevant theme.

6. Affiliation details and brief biography of the moderator and each panel member (3-4 members in total) including their professional status, institutional affiliation, contact number and e-mail address. We encourage the panel to have a gender balance and a good mix of Junior and Senior Law scholars.

7. Affiliation of the panel members to the Asian Society of International Law. Preference will be given to members of the Society. Details of how to join the Society and the benefits of membership are available here.

Applicants will be informed if they are successful by 12 April 2021 and will need to register by 1 May 2021 to remain on the program.

Individual Presentation Proposal

When submitting a Individual Presentation Proposal, the following information is required:

1. A 500-word abstract of the proposed presentation. Presentations at the conference will be limited to 10 minutes.

2. Affiliation details and brief biography. This includes your professional status, institutional affiliation, contact number and e-mail address. Please also include information about your publications and any other relevant information on your research or experience.

3. Your affiliation to the Asian Society of International Law. Preference will be given to members of the Society. Details of how to join the Society and the benefits of membership are available here.

4. Each submission needs to indicate at least one relevant themes.

Applicants will be informed if they are successful by 12 April 2021 and will need to register by 1 May 2021 to remain on the program.


PhD Students Workshop Abstracts

For submitting abstracts for PhD Student Workshop, the following information will be required:

1. A 250-word abstract of your proposed presentation based on your doctoral research project. All international law topics are welcome (the above list is non-exhaustive).

2. A 100-word biography. This includes your educational background, institutional affiliation and year of PhD candidacy, contact number and e-mail address. For scheduling purposes, please also include the city with the preferred time-zone you expect to be in during the workshop.

The workshop will be designed to enable PhD students to engage with their peers on their research and to receive feedback from other PhD students and academics on a specific issue or question relating to their PhD topic.

The deadline for submission of abstracts for the PhD Students Workshop is close of business Monday 8 March 2021.

Successful applicants will be informed by 12 April 2021 and will need to register by 1 May 2021 to remain on the program. For the workshop, PhD students will need to provide a short summary of their thesis and the question or issue they wish to discuss at the workshop (no more than 1,000 words) by 15 April 2021.
